“The logic of the reasoning is based on archetypal speech
forms. In German language it is alten vater Rhein (old
father Rhine), while in Russian language there is a stable
expression “Volga-Matushka”.The river has a symbolic
meaning in Russian culture and it is often referred
to as Волга-матушка Volga-Matushka (Mother Volga)
in Russian literature and folklore. The visual composition
is the result of observation of the real mother
and daughter. I like non-trivial interaction between two
figures, which elaborates on the theme of parent-child
relationships, their independence and contradiction.”
