"All my work has always been based in my emotional memory of my own past that is becoming more distant as I age. I no longer reliably remember the actual events as many of those distant memories are diluted by being retold many times over several decades. I believe for all of us a certain kind of personal mythology seems to evolve over time and all the great tragedies and victories of life become a archetypal narrative in a romantic epic we call “our life”. Much of my focus on my own personal mythology is mixed with the stories and myth of our species. I believe myth defines us as individuals, as a society, and are very important to our personal and collective psyche. So much of the current entertainment media today is simply a modernized retelling of ancient stories that strike a chord deep within our sense of heroism or love or comedy and tragedy of life. We are still motivated by ancient myth and epic challenges that cast us as the protagonist in some archetypal quest. It's strange to think that what we do today will become the myths and legends of the future." - Ray Caesar
