This is an Extraordinary rare and collectible Triptych of signed and numbered Artist’s proof Lithographs on sepia wove paper by Mark Ryden all hand marked by the Artist with same number 1 of 5 and embossed with Artist’s logo.
The print production which followed was an edition of 60 and the last exemplary sold for 8.000$ each.
The complete triptych with the same numbering is unobtainable except for this one, kept by the artist himself.

In a meticulous painting style, Los-Angeles artist Mark Ryden creates fantastical images that juxtapose cartoon-like animals with uncanny depictions of children. A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in the late 1980s, Ryden built his career as the lines between street art and painting were blurring, and his approach thrives on this pairing of high and low culture.
In this particular artwork, ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’, we are indulged in a different world.

The first occurrence of the expression ‘blood, sweat and tears’ was found in Sermons on Various Subjects by Christmas Evans, translated from the Welsh by J. Davis, 1837: Christ the High Priest of our profession, when he laid down his life for us on Calvary, was bathed in his own blood, sweat and tears. Further expressions were later created, especially in Christian nations such as Italy, using the phrase 'lacrime e sangue' (blood and tears)

La prima occorrenza dell'espressione 'sangue, sudore e lacrime' è stata trovata in Sermons on Various Subjects di Christmas Evans, tradotto dal gallese da J. Davis, 1837: Christ the High Priest of our profession, when he offised its life for noi sul Calvario, fu bagnato dal suo stesso sangue, sudore e lacrime.
