“They are in a staged environment of amusement
park. That particular environment evokes sentiments,
nostalgia, and almost dream-like qualities.
The grown up woman in the picture is not a specific
mom but rather a general image of female as a
mother. The child inhabits his own mental space.
The strange tension in the painting is caused by the modern,
contemporary idea being executed in the traditional
pictorial language. And the timeless quality makes
the image somewhat ambiguous and incomprehensible.”
