Awakening Connections: A Journey into the Bonds That Art Creates—Between People, Eras, and Ideas

The number 25 carries a powerful duality, combining the harmony and partnership of 2 with the dynamic spirit of change and exploration represented by 5. Together, they converge into a theme of transformation and discovery, as the sum of 25, the number 7, guides us toward introspection, spiritual growth, and the search for deeper truths.

In 2025, DCG Contemporary program, Awakening Connections reflects this blend of energies, inviting a journey that explores the intricate relationships between people, eras, and ideas. It celebrates art’s ability to connect individuals, bridge time, and ignite new perspectives, fostering a collective awakening to the bonds that define us.

This Year will begin by taking its represented Master Joe Sorren to Los Angeles for a grand solo exhibition at Thinkspace, "Per Aspera ad Astra," where his introspective new series contemplates themes of stars, signs, emotions, and the infinite expanse of the future.

Simultaneously presenting at ThinkSpace the DCG curated "Loud Silence," a group exhibition featuring Paolo Pedroni, Mattia Barbalaco, Yokoteen, Giulio Secondo, Kanako Ozawa, and other exceptional talents, amplifies voices through bold and original expression.

February culminates with "Elements of the Anthropocene: Rebirth and Decay"

a group show at DCG London spotlighting a diverse roster of artists including Canadian innovative painter Chloé-Duval, American visionary Pat Perry, Vietnamese painter on silk Bui Tien, Filipino master painter Rene Cuvos, and Korean talent Joo Lee Kang.

In March, both DCG Rome and London host an expansive exhibition dedicated to sculpture, featuring the extraordinary works of Kanako Ozawa, Lei Xiao Han, and Ai Habara. This celebration of three-dimensional artistry deepens our exploration of form, material, and narrative.

Paving the way for a beautiful spring and rebirth, I am thrilled to announce the year’s first solo exhibition: the much-anticipated debut of Afghan street art icon Shamsia Hassani. Renowned for her magnificent and evocative images, Hassani’s work conveys profound political and social messages, embodying resilience and the transformative power of women’s voices.

With her compelling themes taking center stage, this landmark exhibition will feature Shamsia’s breathtaking series of large-scale canvases, marking a historic moment as she releases her poetic and poignant creations to the world for the very first time in Europe.

Summer ushers in imaginative journeys and surreal delights. London will host a captivating duo exhibition featuring Rafael Silveira and Flavia Itibere. Their surrealist works, deeply rooted in Breton’s manifesto, promise an unparalleled exploration of the subconscious, blending color, mystery, and adventure. In Rome, Taiwanese artist Lee Ghiun will debut with a groundbreaking exhibition addressing climate change and environmental awareness. Through extraordinary techniques and an uplifting message, Lee’s work is a call to protect our world’s biodiversity and preserve its fragile balance.

The season will pause in August and resume with a lineup of exceptional exhibitions in September, promising to continue the year’s narrative of connection and discovery.

2025’s program encapsulates the essence of reflection, transformation, and unity. By bridging cultural, historical, and emotional connections, we invite audiences to delve into the intersections of art and life, creating a dialogue that transcends boundaries and illuminates the shared human experience.

In Rome, Ai Haibara and Lei Xiao Han take center stage in a double solo show that celebrates their exceptional skills in wood carving. Their works, deeply embedded in themes of childhood, spark a dialogue that both highlights their differences and underscores their similarities, creating a dynamic and colorful interaction between their distinct artistic expressions. Through meticulous craftsmanship, Haibara and Lei unveil the nuanced capabilities of wood as a medium, weaving together their personal experiences and cultural identities in each piece.

KANAKO OZAWA | SOLO EXHIBITION

4 APRIL 2025

DCG London is excited to introduce the innovative work of Kanako Ozawa, whose art fluidly transitions between canvas and sculpture. Ozawa’s versatile technique challenges the conventional boundaries of artistic mediums and time itself, as she revisits and reshapes her memories into tangible expressions. Her work, characterized by a soft white palette, masterfully conveys depth and motion, capturing both the ephemeral and the eternal. Ozawa’s ability to move seamlessly between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms showcases her profound grasp of material and form, offering viewers a glimpse into her enchanting artistic universe.

Ozawa’s faceless, spirit-like figures serve as universal representations of the complexities of human existence, enveloped in a quiet, enigmatic mystery. These figures reflect the paradox of life—its delicate beauty and the inherent tension between the weight of being and the lightness of existence. Through these forms, Ozawa portrays life not as a fixed state but as a dynamic and evolving journey, highlighting the fluidity of existence.

The strange, ambiguous presence of Ozawa’s figures, with their playful yet serious demeanor, invites viewers to embrace the uncertainties of life and its ever-changing shape, giving meaning to the very act of living. Ozawa’s art offers a space where existence is celebrated in all its simplicity, inviting viewers to find solace in life’s fleeting, yet infinite nature of our shared human experience.

This exhibition offers a window into Ozawa’s world—a place where the human condition is observed with a tender, affectionate gaze. Her art invites us to rediscover life’s inherent beauty, reminding us of the importance of wonder, empathy, and the simple joy of being.
