This May, we are honored to present a landmark solo exhibition by Shamsia Hassani, the first female graffiti artist from Afghanistan. Known for her bold, emotive, and politically charged works, Hassani brings to the forefront the powerful and resonant themes of resilience, transformation, and women’s empowerment. This exhibition marks a historic moment as Hassani shares her poignant creations with the world, offering a rare and vital glimpse into the life and struggles of Afghan women in a male-dominated society.

Born in April 1988, Shamsia Hassani’s art has become a voice for the silenced and marginalized. Her iconic graffiti portrays Afghan women with strength, ambition, and an undeniable will to overcome the societal constraints placed upon them. In a country where women’s voices have often been suppressed, her murals have brought a wave of color and hope, reasserting the power and presence of women in Afghanistan’s post-war society.

Over the past decade, Hassani’s art has sparked a cultural movement, instilling pride in women across the country and beyond. Through her graffiti festival, art classes, and exhibitions worldwide, she has motivated women, particularly in Afghanistan, to express their creativity and challenge societal norms.
