“This painting is inspired by the song “Unconditional love”
by Cyndi Lauper, taking the title of that song as an instruction
manual in the relationship with the children. The woman
who appears in the role of mother refers to Princess
Leia. The icon of the cinema is the symbol of galactic feminism
who re-designed the concept of the story princess.
Leia contradicts the role of the princesses
waiting seated for her prince to arrive.
She did not conform and fought and fought against injustice
without giving up absolutely nothing, something that earned
her to be elected Senator of the Galactic Empire, Head
of State up to twice, Generala and, of course, Jedi Knight
The character of Princess Leia played by Carrie Fisher
was unlike anything she had seen before. Leia was a princess,
but did not respond at all to the canons not written
in the movies about how they behaved and were the
princesses: she was the leader of the rebellion, tremendously
bossy, had a strong character, was not even terribly
pretty and wore something similar to a monastic habit.
She transcended any archetype: she was a princess, but
not a damsel in distress; she was a warrior, but she was not
guided only by the sword or the laser gun; she was a sister,
and in the end surely a wife and mother, but she never
ceases to be a rebel, thus exemplifying the traditional and
feminist qualities of the hero Through Leia, it became clear
that success does not have to do with gender roles, nor
for what is imposed on society. When it comes to advocating
freedom of expression, we must not give in. He taught
women that they will not settle for a negative response.”
