"This work is rendered in a way that shows up as a triptych upon the opening of the door, something that resembles the opening of the theatre. The angels, wearing skin-tight garments that cover the entire body while blending in with the background, play the role of Kuroko (lit. black-clad stagehands in traditional Japanese theatre who dress all in black). They represent, on the premise that they 'must not be seen', a symbol of divine existence of the reality incognizable to the human sense. The background of the painting on the right realistically depicts the God-created sublime nature, contrasted with the other two that represent an artificial beauty based on the image of theatre. The central painting provides the view of the universe visible through the earth's fissure, which symbolizes insecurity and apprehension invoked by the separation from God's blessing. In this work, I am attempting in my own way to show the fusion of Genesis from a religious sense and evolution from a scientific point of view." - Tokuhiro Kawai
