"Sometimes also a flower needs a break, and this red and green character is clearly taking his. Giving human attributes to a slice of Nature Sorren wants us to smile and to think about our human habits from another perspective. The flower is bright and pensive, and his mood it's like the one an actor could have off the stage, relaxed, chilled, enjoying a puff of cigarette before going back to show off his petals and his natural flow in the world of Nature. The face of the flower recalls the amazing portraits that Joe Sorren usually paints of people, and he is not looking at the viewer, so it is up to the observer to engage with him and understand the story that is going on. The red of the flower clashes strongly with the green and instead of having a "still life" we admire the life of a flower going on while it is not doing his best job: just being a flower."
