L’artista gioca hide and seek con la simbologia della fortuna disseminando simboli e messaggi segreti tra le pieghe di fiocchi, nastri e merletti che vestono il caratteristico personaggio dal sapore vintage che ha reso celebre e inconfondibile la pittura di Olivas.
Le protagoniste iconiche della produzione di Kathie Olivas, che già nel ormai lontano 2007 andavano a ruba quali vinyl figures sotto il marchio Kidrobot sono tornate più monelle e deliziose che mai per portare un messaggio di positività e di buon augurio in chiave 100% pop surrealism. KAZUHIRO HORI: Cannot be a Magical Girl
Dorothy Circus Rome | Solo Show 19 Novembre - 17 Dicembre 2022 L’avatar femminile è protagonista delle tele del pittore giapponese Kazuhiro Hori, come per altri grandi artisti che espongono alla DCG, non ultimo Ray Caesar, l’artista sceglie di raffigurare se stesso e le sue esperienze attraverso la fanciulla.
Il significato profondo di questa scelta artistica risiede ancora una volta nell’essenza del femminile, questa scelta intende riscrivere l’iconografia del femminile per far sì che essa sfugga alla riduttiva chiave simbolica della musa e semplice fonte di ispirazione sentimentale ma piuttosto una riscrittura della realtà e della sensibilità artistica che indaga sull’ inconscio, legata alla vera natura del femminile in quanto profonda, coraggiosa e vera ricerca dell’io.
Nei 6 dipinti in acrilico di Hori ricorre l’elemento del dolce, si materializza nelle numerose forme di caramelle e zuccheri che l’artista richiama a simboleggiare l’infanzia, un’infanzia che cambia sapore crescendo tanto da trasmetterne ormai l’appiccicoso e l’amaro.
La prospettiva di Hori sulla realtà del femminile abbraccia l’adolescenza in senso ampio, avvicinando altrettanto la ragazza e il ragazzo alla verità sulla crescita e sulla disillusione gettando il seme dell’identificazione e del riconoscimento con l’obiettivo di far crescere la comprensione, uguaglianza, l’idea di libertà. Attraverso un lessico raffinato e ricercato l’artista svela gli stimolanti scenari inediti della nuova serie pervasa da una Vanitas Pop attorno alla quale sia attorcigliano fiori, orsacchiotti logori e creature inquietanti tuttavia tenuti a bada dalla ricorrente bacchetta magica scettro del potere della fantasia, via di fuga ambivalente per fuggire altrettanto dalla realtà quanto dall’illusione.
